Friday Five

20 Jan

In the spirit of all things McKnight, I thought it might be interesting to share five stories or blogs I read during the week that were worth sharing.

Mark Driscoll is no stranger to controversy, and his latest book on marriage does not break from that trend.  However, this week he conducted an interview on UK radio that caused more buzz than the book he has been plugging.  David Fitch at Reclaiming the Mission does an excellent job of analyzing how Driscoll highlights the present divide between Postmodern and Modern Christians.

Roger Olson re-prints a brilliant article from Michael Clawson of Baylor University’s Department of Religion, regarding rise of Neo-Fundamentalism.

This blog was not posted this week, but I found it this week.  Franky, the name of the blog Cognitive Discopants alone makes it worth checking out, but in this post Cognitive Discopants explains why there is such a big difference between Moody Bible Institute and NT Wright on salvation and forgiveness of sin.

Last Saturday “top” evangelical leaders met in Texas to decide which of the potential nominees, other than Romney, they could support, attempting to get the evangelical movement rallied around one candidate.  Christianity Today ran an insightful article titled Why Last Saturday’s Political Conclave of Evangelical Leaders Was Dangerous.

I thought this video was a good response to the viral video Why I Hate Religion, But Love Jesus.

With all the attention of your previous posts, I nearly neglected this one. I enjoyed several of these blogs. Thanks for the links.
